At 08h00, our tour guide will pick you up at the hotel and leave Saigon for My Tho, the gateway to Mekong Delta. A smooth 1h30mn drive through rice field scenery along National Highway 1 brings you to the beautiful rural district of Trung Luong. Known as the “rice bowl” of Vietnam, the Mekong Delta is the most fertile region in the country, and the main producer of rice and tropical fruits.
Arrive in the town of My Tho where you will take a boat trip over the Tien River to Ben Tre Island. As you cross over the river (a branch of the Mekong) you will pass sand barges and small sampan fishing boats, an insight into daily life on the Mekong Delta. Half way across the river you will stop at Phoenix Islet where you will encounter local families making coconut rice paper as well as handicrafts made from coconut shells.
Enjoy a sumptuous lunch served right in the heart of the orchard to the accompaniment of Southern Vietnamese folk music performed by the islanders. After visiting the coconut candy mill, take an amazing rowing boat trip along the small canal. Then continue to Ben Tre province, "the country of coconuts", to see a typical agricultural model known as "Garden - Pond - Cage". Enjoy a relaxing cup of honey tea before returning to My Tho via Tan Thach natural canal, cruising under the shadows of water coconut palms.
